Mushroom Thyme! Bruschetta Appetizer
1 lb button, cremini, or oyster mushrooms
4 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp powdered garlic or 2 tsp minced garlic
2 tbsp thyme leaves
Salt and pepper, to taste
Olive oil for drizzling, optional
Heat oil in large pan over medium-high heat.
Slice the mushrooms into 1/4" slices and toss into pan with heated oil.
Sauté quickly, about three minutes.
Add the balsamic vinegar, sugar, and garlic, then stir for another 30 seconds or so to let the balsamic and sugar caramelize.
Add thyme and season with salt and pepper.
Slice and toast the bread.
Load the mushrooms onto the bread slices and serve immediately. Optional: drizzle with olive oil.
